On January 8, 2021, the "training forum for high-level innovative talents of surveying, mapping and environment specialty from the perspective of world-class" was held in the lecture hall of the library of Nanhu campus. The talent training forum consists of three modules, namely, the expert forum for innovative talent training, the launching ceremony of undergraduate tutorial system and the graduate academic forum.

Dean Nanshan Zheng delivered an opening speech and introduced the tutorial system and talent training of CESI. He stressed that the college will continue to further promote the implementation of undergraduate tutorial system in the whole college, truly care for students, innovate talent training mode and improve training quality. Relying on discipline construction, the college will continue to carry out brand activities such as science and technology culture festival, surveying and mapping skills competition, new vision lecture hall and Professor table, vigorously create an academic innovation atmosphere and build a community of teachers and students. He pointed out that in 2020,  CESI won many awards, including the gold medal of the challenge cup, the third prize of the National College Students' social practice and science and technology competition for energy conservation and emission reduction, the winner and encouragement prize of the GIS software development competition for Chinese College students, the second and third prizes of the urban water environment and water ecology science popularization creativity competition, and the special prize of the Jiangsu University surveying and mapping geographic information innovation and entrepreneurship competition, Great achievements in scientific research and innovation.

The graduate academic forum was held in four branch venues. More than 80 graduate students from four disciplines of the college reported in the forum. Various venues also arranged a number of professors for on-site scoring and interactive communication. The academic forum finally selected 3 special awards, 7 first prizes and 10 second prizes.
